Abstract:
BladderScan® Technology
Bill Barnard,
Gerald McMorrow, Roger Sahm, and Brian Wilson. "BladderScan
Technology." Diagnostic Ultrasound Corporation,
1994.
Objectives:
* To compare the accuracy of the BladderScan BVI 2500
to Abdominal Ultrasound (AUS) methods of measuring bladder
volume.
Methods:
* Thirty-eight examinations were conducted on thirty-six
adults. Each subject was examined with up to five BVI
2500 instruments. The subject was then examined with
an ATL Ultramark-8 (UM8) general purpose ultrasound
instrument. Immediately after the examinations, the
subject voided into a UFS 1005 Uroflowmeter in order
to document the voided bladder volume.
Results:
* "The BVI 2500 demonstrated significantly less
error than each of the six AUS methods. In addition,
r2 was significantly
higher for the BVI 2500 than for the six AUS methods."
Conclusions:
* "The BladderScan BVI 2500 provides a portable,
rapid, accurate method for bladder volume determination.
Clinical results demonstrate that the BladderScan is
simpler to use and more accurate than abdominal ultrasound
instruments."
