Urology

"For many years I have had the opportunity to use the BladderScan® from Diagnostic Ultrasound Corp [now Verathon Inc.] and find it to be an invaluable tool for use not only in the acute care setting but also in my own practice. The BladderScan® is extremely easy to use for the clinician and provides the results quickly and in an easy to read format. I've also found my patients greatly appreciate it's use as it has greatly decreased the number of urethral catheters I use when assessing bladder volume. As a result of this, I highly recommend its use in both the acute care and private practice settings." - Bruce Rosenzweig, MD

"I have used the BladderScan® in an office setting as well as in the hospital setting for the last 13 years of my Urological practice. I have always been satisfied with the results I have received with the scanner. I also strongly support the noninvasive technique of the bladder scanner to receive information on my patients voiding habits. In all my years using the scanner, I have never encountered any technical difficulty or malfunction of the machine. I can't imagine practicing without the Bladderscanners and would highly recommend it to any medical professional." - Liz Albertson, MD

"It has indeed been my pleasure to have been able to use the BladderScan® in my urologic practice for the last several years. Prior to this time, it was very complicated to be able to determine post-void urinary residuals. We had patients that would require instrumentations that I wished could have been managed by some other method. I did have a transrectal ultrasound machine that had a renal and testicular access probe. This machine was capable of determining post-void urinary residual, but was very cumbersome to use. Your BladderScan® is very easy for my nursing staff to use. I am extremely pleased to have been able to use this machine and I look forward to further advancements in the future." - Joseph S. Dankoff, MD

Acute Care and Rehab

"We not only decreased the occurrence of UTI's, but also reduced supply costs, and, most importantly, the patient's length of stay. Our cost savings paid for the scanner in less than 3 months." - Margie Bourne, Administrative Nurse Manager, Florida Hospital Altamonte

Extended Care Facilities

"The 265 bed Nursing Home Care Unit of the Dayton Dept of Veterans Affairs has been using the BladderScan® device manufactured by the Diagnostic Ultrasound company [now Verathon Inc.] for 3 years and found it to be a valuable part of our incontinence management program.... Improvements that can be attributed to use of the BladderScan®:

Our rates of UTI have decreased
Toileting related falls have decreased
Number of catheterizations has decreased
Toileting is done more appropriately saving time and money
Better compliance with treatment regimens

There are currently five bladder scanners in use on the 7 units in our nursing home and we would not be able to maintain our continence program at its' current level without them." - Reatha Collinsworth, RNC, MS, CNS, Dept of Veterans Affairs Medical Center
