Multiple,
Voice-annotated Exams
 The
Mobile BladderScan® instrument noninvasively
performs and stores a minimum of ten patient bladder
volume exams, each associated with a voice annotation,
so healthcare providers can conveniently monitor patients’
bladder function on their rounds. The easy-to-use, handheld
instrument provides an alternative to diagnostic urinary
catheterization, eliminating unnecessary urethral trauma
to the patient. Studies have shown that BladderScan®
technology prevents unnecessary catheterization, reduces
the incidence of catheter-related urinary tract infections,
and improves satisfaction with care provided among both
staff and patients.
The Mobile BladderScan® BVI 6400 calculates
bladder volume using patented VMODE®
three-dimensional ultrasound technology. VMODE®
ultrasound is accurate, fast, and easy to use. Within
seconds, the BladderScan® measures ultrasonic
reflections within the patient's body on multiple planes,
creates a 3-dimensional image of the bladder, and calculates
bladder volume. Simply apply a Sontac®
gel pad, select patient gender, position the scanhead,
and press the scan button. An aiming icon on the instrument's
LCD screen guides the user to optimal positioning of
the scanhead, to ensure accuracy of measurement. Providers
can view and print BVI 6400 exam results, including
ultrasound images, using the ScanPoint®
online imaging and calibration service.
The
Mobile BladderScan® features multiple
exam storage and voice annotation capabilities, so healthcare
providers can conveniently scan ten or more patients
on their rounds and save the exam data for later review.
After completing a patient exam, the provider records
a brief voice message to identify the patient and other
relevant exam information, and then proceeds to scan
another patient, if desired. To retrieve the exam data,
the user simply connects to ScanPoint®
and all stored exams are automatically uploaded into
the ScanPoint® database for review. The
voice recording is replayed when the associated exam
is viewed, so providers can identify and enter the appropriate
patient information.
