Urinary problems affect patients across the spectrum of acute care. The "Urological Health in the Acute Care Setting" manual provides valuable information about urological disorders in acute care, which will enable you to monitor your patients more effectively, and explains how the BladderScan® can be used to enhance methods of evaluation, diagnosis and treatment.

For example, cancer patients can develop acute chemical cystitis as a result of chemotherapy. You may need to hydrate your patient to minimize the risk, but how can you be sure of your patient's hydration status? The BladderScan® can help you determine whether or not the bladder is filling adequately, so you'll know when your patient is properly hydrated.

In the short-stay Medical/Surgical unit, Post-Operative Surgical unit, or Recovery Room, patients typically cannot be discharged until there is a successful void. So your patient waits. And waits. And waits some more. The BladderScan® noninvasively provides you with knowledge of your patient's bladder volume, so you'll know if your patient needs to be hydrated to help the bladder fill so he or she can void. The BladderScan® can accelerate the discharge process!

The Acute Care manual reviews the urological problems you're likely to encounter in the following hospital settings:

Medical/Surgical Post-operative Geriatric
Rehabilitation Women's Health Pediatric
Oncology Transitional Care Psychiatric
Emergency Room Neurology

The manual is available in an easy-to-read, print format. Click here to view a printable PDF (requires Adobe® Acrobat® Reader) or contact your Verathon Medical® representative to order.
